I'm not superstitious, but it's always fun to recognize one of the unluckiest days of the year
EDITSorry for all the edits xD I keep forgetting what I wanted to mention x.x
Apparently, dA is having a sale on greeting cards from the print shop today.
30% off all greeting cards! Now would be a good time to stock up on cards with the holiday season quickly approaching

I'm sure you all got a notice in your message center about the sale, but I thought I'd put out a little reminder xP
I want to try and make something specifically for the holidays for the prints shop today x3
/EDITIf you ask me, Friday the 13th came a day early xD It wasn't
all bad yesterday, though.
It started to rain indoors! o.o
Yesterday at around 10 am, I woke up to my mom more or less freaking out over the ceiling. Which was dripping. Which meant that there was a leak

xD So I got up to see what was the matter, and I heard my mom calling her work to let them know she'd be a little late 'cause of a leak. She was just getting ready to leave for work. Good thing she saw it before she left. Who knows how long it would've been 'til I noticed it on my own (since I usually get up after noon). Not to mention how
I'd freak out if I woke up to a leak like that o.o My mom went upstairs to let the woman up there (she was the only one there at the time) know that there was a leak in our ceiling, so it was probably coming from their set of pipes. Then my mom called the realty place we rent through, and got a message saying that for emergencies you should call one of the numbers listed in the lease, I guess. Then she called the number for the plumber, only to find out that he was out on another job, so he obviously couldn't come 'til after he was done. I told my mom to go ahead on to work, and I'd take care of stuff until the plumber got there.
I got dressed and had breakfast and was pretty much restless until the plumber came. I hate waiting for people to come to our house >.<
A while later (maybe 1 to 2 hours later; I don't keep track of time very well xD ), I got a call from the plumber saying that he was on his way. Huzzah!

It seemed like forever waiting for him to come, though.
While I was waiting for the plumber, I got a call from my friend, Kayla, who I haven't seen or talked to at all since graduation. So we talked for a bit, and lo and behold the plumber came! I was still on the phone with her when he came. When I heard him knock the first time, I couldn't figure out which door he was using (we have two ways to get inside) xD I let him in eventually, and he took a look at where the water was coming from. It was dripping from one of the ceiling tiles, which was apparently soaked through. It'd been sagging a little bit more and more. According to him, if it was left alone long enough, it would have fallen out on its own, which would have been bad, since there would have been a lake of water on the floor instead of in the bucket that was put there. He needed something to poke a hole in the tile to let more of the water drain through before taking it down to get to the pipe. So I gave him a screwdriver. While the tile was draining, he went out to his truck to get his stuff, and I talked with Kayla a bit more then hung up.
It was a mess when he took out the tile. Water and debris all over the floor (thank goodness it's linoleum and not carpet

) Had to throw out the tile (and one next to it; it was getting soaked, too) and the insulation just above it, as they were too waterlogged to reuse. He found out that the pipe didn't go to/come from the bathroom like we'd thought, since that's where the leak was, but on the opposite side of the house, parallel to the bathroom, in the upstairs kitchen. Apparently the pipe from the drain in the sink had gotten a hole in it near where it joined the others in the bathroom to go into the basement. It was a copper pipe that had been in the house for a good 30-ish years.
Shortly after, I guess, my mom came home, so she was told what was wrong. Then the plumber got to work fixing the pipe, though it's only temporary. He wants to replace the
whole pipe that runs from the upstairs kitchen sink to where the leak was/is, and maybe through to the basement, I dunno. Plus the insulation and ceiling tiles are going to have to be replaced at some point.
So, yeah. Fun with water xD The water that dripped out of the ceiling while I was waiting for the plumber to come was a nasty yellow/brown color. It even leaked into the cabinet right next to the leak >.< I had to take out the dishes and dry some of them. Then I wiped out the shelves the best I could, and set up some smaller containers on the counter to catch any drips from the cabinet. There'd already been a bucket under the biggest drip, which was from the ceiling.
Now there's a big dark hole in the ceiling. Yay for having things break!

Book Signing D:
I just found out that I missed a signing of Stephen King's newest book,
Under the Dome >.<
Apparently it was on Wednesday, the 11th (aka Veterans Day) at 6:00 pm, in a Walmart in Dundalk, MD. Probably wouldn't have been able to go anyway, since we're about 1.25 hours away, plus we'd have to go through/around the outskirts of Baltimore. Not to mention that it's in the middle of the week, and my parents are usually too tired to do anything by that time of night/evening anyway. And
then there's the money issue. You'd have to buy the book, which is like $35 or something, which I don't think we really had.
It would have been awesome to have gone, though o.o And to have seen him in person, get his newest book, and to have him sign said book

I found out about the signing from my mom, who'd said that one of the people she works with thought he was going to have a signing in Westminster sometime around this time. But she couldn't remember when it was going to be, if it had already happened, or had yet to happen. I googled it when my mom mentioned it, but all I could find was the Dundalk signing. Oh, well >.>
Long journal is long
And is now over :3
EDITActually, I lied. Forgot to mention that I think I'm kinda sick xD Nothing serious, just a runny nose, sore/dry throat, and I've been sneezing a lot. Took some knock-off brand's version of Ny-quil daytime stuff today, and it's helping some, I guess. Been like this for the past couple days. Hopefully it'll go away soon >.> I think I got it from suddenly being outside a ton since the weekend xD What it really feels like is when I get sick from not sleeping enough, but I don't get how that would be this time. I've been sleeping 8-9 hours like I generally do, with maybe a couple nights where I get maybe half that (like on Friday nights when my parents want to leave the house by 9 am Saturday for whatever reason). I usually only get sick from lack of sleep when I consistently get less than a normal night's sleep for a few weeks O.o Oh well.
NOW long journal is over.
